PTA Reflections 2006-2007

The PTA at Port Neches Middle School consists of parents, grandparents, neighbors, teachers and friends of students at the middle school campus. Our purpose is to work together with the faculty to help provide great learning opportunities for our students and help create an atmosphere that teachers, students and staff enjoy working in.

The PTA began the year fully staffed with an enthusiastic board to get things off to a great start. Our membership drive was very successful with our school receiving the Golden Apple Award for membership increase. We had five entries in the Reflections art contest with several moving on to the Area and State levels. We had excellent sales in our on-campus Book Fairs in October and March. Our PTA bought a sign to publicize Book Fair weeks for years to come. In the fall we sold T-shirts and participated in the Red Ribbon parade to support drug awareness. Several of our members attended leadership training to better prepare them for service in the years ahead. A “Box Tops for Education” fundraising program was introduced to our school this year and student response to an incentive program was good.  In November, our teachers and faculty were treated to a nicely catered meal from the PTA to show our appreciation for whom they are and all they do.

January and February were spent planning the Valentines Dance, nominating the Life Member recipient and the participating in the Founder’s Day Banquet.  Mazzio's Night was a fun way to raise money for our school and proved to be very successful. We also chose a nominating Committee to start the process of filling positions for next school year.  The remainder of the school year will be spent selecting our board for next year, Teacher Appreciation luncheon, hosting the Area Council meeting, and discussing plans for possible Spirit sales at our campus as well as other ideas for the coming year.  Mr. Keith, Mr. Ryan, and the PTA board are all a pleasure to work with.

There are many opportunities for volunteers to work at our campus. They include helping with Fund-Raisers, teacher and staff appreciation activities, volunteering in the teacher workroom, coordinating drug awareness and the Reflections Art contest.  If you are interested in being a PTA volunteer, please fill out the interest finder form and return to the school office.
