Introduction

Students will gain an understanding of the magnitude of the events surrounding the Holocaust and the trials of the young Anne Frank.
 

TASK

After reading "The Diary of Anne Frank," you will research Anne Frank's life and related background information concerning the Holocaust.  You will also research other people and places involved in this time in history.  Using the Internet will enable you to find valuable information about your topics and create a newsletter based on your findings.  In groups, you will present your newsletter to the class.

 

Process

After reading The Diary of Anne Frank and researching your topics you will:

Collect pictures related to your articles

Find a quote related to the theme of the newsletter

Locate important facts about the time period

Select significant people and places to put in your newsletter

Evaluation

You will be graded on your articles, facts, and the overall appeal of your newsletter. Also, you will be graded on your group presentation using a rubric grading scale.
 

Conclusion

"A Time of Remembrance" Newsletter should assist you in obtaining a better awareness of the tragic events surrounding the Holocaust and the innocent people who were made victims of such injustice.  This period in history will certainly be a time not forgotten.
